Short for "Throttle Position Sensor". Bike was acting odd while idling sometimes the idle was low sometimes high but this past weekend it decides to really come unglued. Basically I don't know whether it will idle right or rev at 2000rpm everytime I pull in the clutch. After researching on the web it looks like a lot of Rockets have had the same problem. Thought I could get it working properly but it looks like the damn thing is shot. Bike goes into the shop on Sat. I believe Triumph might be covering this. We'll see.
Just wanted to let everyone know why "sniff" I won't be at the BASH. Hope everyone has a geat time and I hope to see many of you at other summer events this year.

Take care everyone, Touko

PS,
Sevy, if anyone needs an xtra large shirt it's ok to sell it otherwise if you email me I can send the 20.00 and figure out a way to get it some other time or even next year.
Thanks man

Thanks guys, I really am bummed and I was actually thinking about driving the truck up but if Triumph doesn't cover this I'll have to use the bucks I was gonna burn through at the Bash. Can't believe the R3 picks this time to crap out. Well, looks like I am going to trade it in on another R3 either this Fall or next Spring. Don't want to take any chances for next year. Stay great my friends, Todd

Ok, so I get my bike back today. Runs great and is idling just fine. Take it up on the highway and go over the ton a couple times and it feels really great. Stop for a coffee before going to work. Try to start it back up and it takes several times and I had to keep it running by holding the throttle open a bit. Not good. So basically what they did was put a new tune in it and sync the throttle bodies and also adjusted the TPS but did not replace the TPS. So I call them back up and they did what was in the service bulletins. I think Triumph is hoping that all these TPS "aka" Throttle Positioning Sensor" will work correctly after they have been set again. The place where I took it to is going to try and bill Triumph for a brand new TPS and get them to pay for the labor to put it in. According to the web everyone who has had this problem goes through the same thing I am going through which is a couple trips to the shop and finally a replacement part. I'll keep ya all posted.

My Rocket stalled once while I was slowing down at a stop sign...so I mentioned it to the tech at my dealer and he had Triumph warranty a new TPS and put it on for me the next time I was out...Very simple and never a problem since...and it only stalled on me once to start with...

I had an 02 Tiger, and it stalled many times, for no apparent reason, kept stalling, so the bike is 3 days old, has stalled maybe 8 times, and i bring it back, multiple times,,, long story short, lemon law, new bike same issue, all new parts installed ie: offroad pipe, throttle meister, heated grips, touring windshield, center stand and at 2500 miles on bike # 2 it never stalled again and ran perfect for 28k miles when i got rid of it 3 years later!
they could never find the issue, bike # 2 was 10 characters away from bike # 1 so there were at least 10 more bikes that must have run just like that, unless the roulette green threw everything off, but thru all that, i am back, they are just great bikes.
Todd it would have been great to meet you and share good times with the rest of the peeps at the BASH, as i would much rather be at the bash, then with the Finest people in the world :) :) :)

Thanks for the input Shytown and Jefff1. I know it's been a while since I've posted but what I ended up doing was adjusting the tps after getting the bike warmed up and that got the bike to run though it still had a hard time finding the correct idle. The tps sensor finally came in a couple weeks ago and I took it back in for service last week. 292.00 later the R3 is running very strong with no problem idling. Hope it stays that way but if it doesn't its gonna get traded in. Don't want to miss another BTB or you bunch of Hooligans again.

Thanks Billy, gonna try and make it. Hey, a blast from the not so distant past called my the other night. SpeedBLASTER! Yeah, Steve says high to everyone and he's working away at the farm house him and Donna bought. Lots to do this year for him but he says next year he will be doing everything he can to make the BTB. Now we just got to get Jimmy back.

That is great news,
I missed you guys this year.
I'm glad to hear Steve is doing well.
The last I heard from Jimmy was his last up date on speed.
He posted about speed's new place and not having an internet connection.
