All right, bike is finally ready. The Norman Hyde Ace bars I've had for five years now look awesome, but the aggressive forward lean was just getting too uncomfortable, so I ordered a set of Norman Hyde M bars. They were due to arrive today. UPS said they were out for delivery. I got home from work and no bars.

So I did an oil change, hoping UPS would still get around to me tonight... and eventually they did, at almost 8pm. Immediately installed the bars on the bike, and they make for a much more comfortable riding position. Still some forward lean, but not nearly as much. May not be quite as much fun in the twisties or highway, but ought to make it a lot easier to ride longer distances.

Tomorrow morning all I need to do is have a good breakfast, pack, and get moving a little after noon.

Did you put the bar with the dip down or up? I tried both but like it better up. Still cool looking and cafe-ish but not a wrist and back buster.

I just got my bike back together after over a week on the lift doing lots of little things. Sealed the gas tank, installed some tank badges, valve adjustment, rebuilt the front forks with some Ricor Intiminators, lubed the chain, checked the front bushings, etc. Tomorrow I'm changing the oil and filter after work, then pack the bags and load her up. Two of us are heading straight to Brattleboro right after work Friday. We're leaving at 2:30, so we should see all of you at 5:00 PM. Safe riding everyone!

I minor tilt in the m-bar position can be the difference between comfort and agony. Sounds like a few us can compare notes. 6'3" and I'm still trying to work out the magic combo.

I mounted them with the grips raised, not dropped. Might try flipping the bar over at some point if it turns out the seating position is a little too upright now. But I think it'll be fine.

I left everything loose when I mounted them -- sat on the bike, grabbed the grips, and maneuvered the bar into the most natural-feeling position. Tightened it down, then got the switchgear positioned just right so the levers are at a comfortable angle.

Guess I'll find out tomorrow if I like it.
