Bennington Triumph Bash

My question to all the organizers of the event (TITO, MARK,PAUL) Will the rides be the same or are we changing them up a bit this year?

We're still working on that. The Adirondacks Ride will probably be the same route as last year, but Tito's ride will probably be a different route. Vermont's roads were badly damaged by this winter, and the App Gap is downright dangerous due to giant cracks that have opened up, so we won't be routing a ride over it.

Im planning on leading a Ride.. it wont be as fast as the sport bike ride or as long.. but it will be spirited.. Ohh and I have not figured out where its going yet.. but RT 2 from NY to VT is a hella ride....

Ill figure it out... There may be roller derby involved too..LOL

Anything with a roller derby reference has my interest! lol what a blast from the past..that was great!

Yes its called the Mods V Rockers ride on June 18th in Connecticut...... the half way point is an ice cream shop!!!

You might want to consider the Adirondacks Ride this year then -- still has plenty of twisties and great scenery, and it'll probably be our longest ride.

Hey Mark- thanks for approving my membership so quickly

One suggestion regarding the Adirondack ride- as I recall from last year, it was one of the biggest rides, if not *the* biggest, with 20+ riders.

If it's going to be the same size or larger this year, I'd suggest breaking it up into multiple groups of, say, 12 riders or less. It's a lot easier to manage a smaller group, and it seemed to be a lot of work for you to keep everyone together (especially through that microburst).

If you think a "B" ride is a good idea I'm up for leading one. I'm sure there are others more qualified to do so, but I've got the route in my GPS and recall some of the gotchas from last year in terms of gas & lunch stops etc., so I am happy to do so if there are no others interested.

I'll also be up early on Thursday, so I can pre-run the route Thursday or Friday in advance of the bigger rides Saturday.

Let me know if you think this is worth considering...

Mark, Tito and Robin(my wife) are the organizers. Being rom Alabama kinda puts me out of the loop on organizing anything. I just show up and do whatever needs to be done to help out. Go get the kegs, collect money, pass out pins(that was year two), help get waivers signed, drink beer, etc.

Cool, thanks -- we'll see how many people end up on the ride. What I'd definitely like this year is for somebody with the route in their GPS to ride sweep. If you'd be willing to do that, it would be much appreciated!

Speaking of rides, on the subject of the Friday ride to the Putney BBQ, I'm going to go out on a limb and be the big pussy here. I know I was not entirely alone in noting more than a few hairy moments in the ride over to Brattleboro last year, concerning enough that it was a discussion topic and a few of us split off and returned to camp in a smaller group after dinner. Some of that shit is unavoidable with so many bikes, sure.

But given the skill range and number of riders on the big Friday ride, I humbly request at least an announcement for a bit more conservative riding etiquette on this one. I hate being "that guy" who's suggesting to tone it down, but frankly I think we rode over on Threat Level KTM Orange last year, pushing to Duc Red. I'm more of a Threat Level Cat-Puke Yellow sort of guy.

I would volunteer to lead or sweep a second "pussy" cat-puke group B who could leave a few minutes after group A, even if I'm doing both roles in a group of 1. But I think that's a pretty lousy solution, because the mass ride is truly a great time if folks are being cool.

I did not enjoy the ride over either. I was way over my confort zone - large group, fast ride, unfamiliar road. On the way back I was with a group of "Bonnie" riders for a while until I was able to re-connect with Ricster out on RT9.

I just may join you off the back.
