LOL. I haven’t even changed out the break-in oil on the
904 big bore install yet. I just got the stock carbs dialed in
pretty good. She really feels like a whole new beast now.
She has a lot more torque and she pulls a lot harder.
I can feel the front lift when I get on her.
I never liked the slight hesitation in the stock carbs
you get when you twist the throttle.
I have heard nothing but good stuff about the Mikuni HSR 42’s
They should add another 10 HP on top of the 15/20 HP from the Big bore
I’m told they will put the same shit eating grin on my face
that I got on my face with the BB kit all over again.
WoooooHooooo I can’t wait for spring.

From what I have read about them they are very easy to work on.

They are very simple to tune, and change jets. You will really be amazed at the simplicity of it. Of course, as I stated before, if you run into any problems or questions I'm here for you.

I drilled the slides on my stock carbs which helped the throttle response a bit, but I'm considering some aftermarkets also. Such a long list tho...

There is one thing about the HSR's, you can't whack them open below 3.5k or you will get a lean bog. A nice heavy roll on and your fine, but without the pumps enabled you get the sound of a rochester quadrajet with the breather lid turned upside down :)

I remember hearing talk about how you have to twist the throttle easy under a certain
rpm before you wake it open 3500/4000. and it is some thing you get use to very easy.
I talked with Mikeinva a few times last nigh thru PM's on RAT and we talked about
the same thing.
I think what I'm going to do is get use to the feel of the 904 first because there
is definitely a big difference in the performance.
Then I will install the Mikuni's to feel them out and then decide whether or not I will
activate the accelerator pumps.

I don't think you will need them. More than likely, with you new found power, you won't be wacking it under 3.5k. Hell, the only time I did was on the dyno, then I just advised the dyno operator to wait until 3.5k to wack it. It won't be a problem for you.

I think you'll gain more from the mikuni's than you did from the big bore, but there's no way you got 15/20 hp from the big bore. Maybe 10-12hp, and another 10-12hp or so from the carbs.

To put it another way, your bike with the carbs and big bore should make right around 80hp give or take 2-3 hp.

LOL.. I keep forgetting you worked on one motor in you life and you are now the expert.
15/20 HP maybe wishful thinking but opening up the air flow in the carb's and the pipes
with the 904 sure feels pretty damn good.
Maybe you are thinking 10/12 HP with the 904 on your bike because it's trying to hulling your heavy Ass around LOL.

whatever you say Bill.

Post over in the Ace Cafe Delphi forum that you gained 20 hp from the 904 kit and wait for the laughs.
