Head's up on camping at Greenwood

I just talked to the lady who runs Greenwood and she said that no one had reserved the group campsite for BTB 2014 May 29 to May31. A guy named Seth had given her the following weekend and not May 29 to 31. Another group has reserved the group site for these dates, there is some kind of running mud race thing the same weekend and those folks did reserve the group sites. The lady was kinda bummed as she wanted to keep the BTB people together and thought this event was the following weekend. I will probably just reserve a tent site for myself anyway.....but this is just a head's up.

The dates seem to be all screwed up....

Interesting. Thanks for the heads up. That's a serious bummer.

They do have two group sites; I wonder if both have been reserved.

If both group sites are booked already, how will that affect those of us that would like to camp? This will be my first trip to the Bash so I am not familiar with this campsite, do they allow multiple tents on a site or is it strictly one site, one tent?

As long as you don't care about having a camp fire, I think they would let you throw up a tent most anywhere. They have several sites around the pond, and lots of lawn as well. Really nice people, and a cool ride to get back there every night.

They're pretty easygoing. I always get a regular campsite with a few friends, so we always have at least two or three tents on our site. They don't mind.

They do charge for additional people on a campsite though (beyond the first two). But it's not much.

Once imported, sales are good. Export sales are modest!

This their reply to an email I sent yesterday. I'm going to make a reservation in the group site and at least get something going.
It's probably in our best interest if we all make a reservation, the more made should increase the chance of getting the good site.

Dear Dave,

Thanks for your email. When Seth K. told me that the Bennington Bash was the following weekend, June 6th and 7th, I gave site 9 to a group from NH. They have also been here before.

We have two other possible group site places so the Triumph riders will still be able to have a group site for tenting. If the NH group does not have too many campers, I may suggest moving them to another site.

All our camping cost and reservation information is contained in the attachment to this email. After reading everything, please contact us again if you have any questions or want to make a reservation. A private site is $28 per night for two; the group site rate is $8.50 per person per night. There are still some private sites available.

What has happened is that the Tough Mudder event at Mount Snow and the Triumph motorcycle weekend are both falling on the same weekend, May 30th and 31st.

Once our sites are full, we will have to limit our numbers to avoid overcrowding.

We hope we can help you.
Ann, (Ed and Chris) Shea, Greenwood Lodge and Campsites

Has anyone talked to Seth? Does he know he scheduled the wrong weekend? Haven't seen him on here in a while.

Yeah, we let him know. I don't know if he's done anything about it. He's been super busy lately, apparently.

Just made out a check and will be mailing it this morning for Thursday - Saturday nights. I just hope the snow is gone by then. I will be making a slow, day long ride in from the Southern Adirondacks if all goes as planned.

For those of you who like to fish I just got this in and email from Greenwood
"Yes, Joe, we do allow fishing in our ponds. Our two small ponds are on our property. The land surrounding the largest pond called the Mill pond is not entirely owned by us. Those fishing there should have a VT fishing license. The two smaller ponds do not require a license."

Hope this helps.
Ann

Yes I will be bring one of my fishing poles
