A plane tried to land in Hamburg in a storm this weekend and nearly crashed due to severely gusting crosswinds -- this is fucking amazing:

Kudos to that pilot for being able to fly out of it.

Holy shit the wind was taking him sideways, excellent recovery, that was too close, I bet it wasn't just the pilot that was shitting his pant, could you imagine getting to the runway engaged to land , within feet of surface, sideways ? I guess he did clip his wing. I hate flying, I'll do it but, Fuck.................................................................................................

The video was amateur -- my guess is that some airplane buffs camped out at the end of the runway to film severe-crosswind landings (which are pretty spectacular-looking) and got really lucky to catch this one on tape.

Holly crap that pilot just earned his pay check, but now you know why they do so many or much "touch-n-go" passes in their training and life time. so you think thats hairy? Now try doing that on an Aircraft carrier! Gives you some new respect for US Navy and Marine Corps aviators, doesn't it?

Lucky they didn't get a REALLY close up shot of the landing gear or a piece of the wing!
