Hey winter! Fuck you!

For the past week I've been down in DC and New York. When I got to DC last Saturday, it was 65 degrees out. The coldest it was any of the days I was down there was in the high 40s. So this week gave me a serious taste of spring, and I spent much of it wishing I had my bike along.

Yesterday I got back home to Vermont to discover that basically none of the snow has melted, and today the high is 28.

This pissed me off. Seriously. Beautiful fucking day -- sunny, not a cloud in the sky -- but cold. Where the fuck is global warming now, Al Gore?

It pissed me off so much, in fact, that I decided to issue an official "Fuck You!" to Winter 2008 and de-winterized my Honda XR650L (which means I reinstalled the battery), then headed out for a quick 25-mile ride. It was too cold to go much further than that, but damn, it was nice to ride at all.

That's it. Winter's over. I'm going to start riding to work again a few days a week, because I've had it with this winter bullshit.

Riding season

I am beginning my riding season in 2 weeks. V-Strom for sure. Speed Triple will come out later in May when the roads have less sand and salt on them.

I have 2 inches of ice on my driveway and over 12 inches of snow on the deck. I am ready to go riding!

Yeah, my Bonneville is staying in the garage for a while yet. I'd like to have it dewinterized for the Motorcycle Awareness Day on April 20, but that will depend on the weather.

I was hoping to pick up the V-Strom this coming Saturday, but I doubt that will work out based on the weather forecast. We'll see.

Mark I hear you loud and clear man, FUCK YOU !!! Winter.
I do feel bad for you guys farther up north. I have had more then enough of this winter.
I am starting to see some hope that it is coming to a end. It was 45° yesterday and
I took the bike out for a ride. It felt good to be in the saddle again but, it would of been
a lot more enjoyable if it were 75°
So when I start pissing and moaning about how cold and shitty it is out I think about
you guys up in the mountains and then I realize it's not so bad out after all.
Hang in there Man, It won't be much longer....I hope

43 degrees bright and sunny so the season started today! shot a few rounds of trap in the morning then I rode 100+ miles on my BMW R80 with my son on his 675, stopped at a local burger joint for Easter dinner
should hit 50 on Wednsday so the T140 comes out next, then the Thruxton
I want to get the Speed Triple out but will wait for a good rain to get the rest of the sand off the corners first, too easy to land on my head with all that HP
spring was a week late but its finally here

I got out for a half hour the other day too. It was in the high 40s I think. I was ok but my face got cold even behind the full face! I need to find a chin baffle thing for it... Time to paint a few bits and get it ready for the season for sure.

Mark,
I hear that. Up state NY. Upstate VT. Its just like the better part of Maine. The "county" up in here Maine got 15 feet of snow this year. And recently, while it was sunny over most of the state, albeit very cold and windy, the upper part of the state got another 12 inches. They won't see spring until June. And your right nice sunny days but its been 22 Degrees F. I've just been going to the motorcycle shops of New England to get my fix. Even if I can't ride. Been to Great Bay of North Hampton, NH, 4 times this spring. Been to Sea Coast Ducati/ Moto Guzzi, of Derry, NH. Street Cycles of Falmouth, ME 5 times, Moto Milano, North Windham, ME, 7 times since October.

I hate winter!

at least you guys with the dirt bikes can go play in the sand and shit.

Sorry for the lecture

I still have 30"x150' of snow between my sprint and the driveway!

I had a science teacher tell me once that global wasn't going to be this big warming condition that people imagined. The have done paleometorolgy and found that this warming trend has happened every 10,000 years or so. Ever hear about the dark ages? The average temp was 4 degrees cooler then anytime before or after that period. The funny thing was before the dark ages there was a great warming. When the melt off of glaciers and ice caps occurs it runs into the ocean. It stops the saline conveyor in the oceans. When the saline conveyor stops the temperature drops.

Saline conveyor is the engine that works under the ocean it brings warm water up to the north and cold water down to the south. It has a mjor role in our summer/winter temps. When too much fresh water goes into the ocean the saline conveyor weaks, increase the scale and it stops. If history hokds true then get ready for a very cold future.

I think that was the only class I payed attention in.

I will have my V-Strom out in two weeks even if I have to shovel her out. The Speed Triple will be out beginning of May.
