Bennington Triumph Bash

I will need some time to get her broken in before the Bash in May.
It looks a little scary but, so far every thing is going smooth.
Installing the 904 BB kit and opening up her lungs so she can breath a little better.

April you should be done within a couple of days after the jugs get back. You will get it trust me its not as bad as people make it out to be.

Every thing went very smooth no problems.
I had every thing apart in 6 hours hopefully it will all go as smooth on assembly.
I still have to make a battery box with all the connections for the electrics.
There are a few other things I will be working on over the winter.
I will be working on the clutch, and some head work.
I also will be adding a air horn and rewiring some running lights I added last year
so they will be on there own switch.
I will have her ready to go well before the Bash.

Bill just remember CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN cleanliness is next to Godliness when it comes to rebuilds. I am working on a stroker build as soon as the parts get here. I have the 66 650 back together so I feel for ya if its a night and weekend thing. Just got me a new tool set so I dont have to run from the shop to the basement so much Santa brought it to me LOL.

Excellent pictures Billy. Thx for bringing us along on this project. I would love to do this myself but I have made a pledge to the Engine Gods not to split the case on this one. Please keep us abreast as the project continues, and of course if you need anything from your brother RAT's just give us a shout-out!

Ton Up!

The jugs, pistons and sleeves went out UPS today they should be at the machine shop
in New York on Friday because of the Holiday. I sent them to Seeley Engine Machine
He has done Bonnie's before. I waited till winter so I'm not in a hurry I will be working
on her nights and weekends when I can. With 3 kids and a wife It wont be that easy
plus I have to keep the car , truck and plow truck and a bobcat loader running.
I am very anxious to push the starter button on her.

Up date
Today was a very long day for me
.
I saw that my cylinder jugs arrived at my house at 1:16pm and I could not be home till 4:30pm.
But, it was worth the wait. I am happy with the work.
Every thing checked out to spec.
Now to try and take my time and get her all back together right.

Here is a cool pic of the stock piston and the 904 piston. There is not that big of a difference but X2 = 114 cc more.

I will put in some fresh oil some cheap stuff and I'm going to reuse my old filter.
I will run her through about 3 to 4 heat cycles bring her up to running temperature
keeping the rev's under 2500 RPM and then letting her cool down between each cycle
Then change the oil with the good stuff and new filter
and then I will put around 100 + miles on her keeping the rev's under 6000 RPM
The rev's top out at only 7500 RPM
Then I'm good to go and see how easy it is to get the front wheel off the ground.
I ripped out the stock air box out and installed the pod air filters so
I will have to fiddle with the carbs a bit to get them dialed in just right
I will be waiting for a good day.

Hi Jimmy
I am picking away at little by little.
I've got the head all polished and all the valves and seats have been lapped.
I got the valve seals and shims delivered the same day the jugs arrived.
I have all the piston rings in and I just finished installing the new seal and springs
on all the intake valves. So far all is good I am hoping to push the starter button
by Saturday or Sunday. Then after I run her through a few heat cycles and drain
the oil I will pull the clutch apart to check the plates and change the springs to the
heavy duty ones.
