Let me be the first to say I'm psyched!!

I have been dreaming of another VT ride, and the time has finally come! I would love to lead/organize a ride up beautiful Skyline Drive on Mt Equinox. I've been up there many times, it's an amazing view, a fun ride, and it has some interesting history I can tell you about.

Mark et al, just let me know what you need for a ride route, etc. I know I'm not technically a "local" as far as the Champlain Rats goes, but I grew up there so this is a local as it will get for me Looking forward to more rides!!

We'll be happy to have you lead a Mt Equinox ride!

We're still working on pulling together assorted ride routes -- and we figure that those are the sorts of things we can keep adding right up until the event.

And bennybmn, I'm right behind you dude. Cracked me up on Triumphrat.net when you posted that you were the first. DAMN! He beat me to it.

Since I'm not familiar with Vermont, I'll have to do my homework on all the suggested rides before I decide. Mt. Equinox sounds like a good one.

I'm going to lurk here on and off, and when the numbers build I'd like to see how many people have committed to attending. Maybe a poll here or on rat.net? I booked myself into a B&B the week Whisperinsmith proposed this event. I'm looking forward to it, but not necessarily to the ride across America. Or rather, I'm looking forward to the ride, but I hope my back can deal with the torture of 3,000 miles.

Not to worry, we'll be posting plenty of details, including descriptions of the types of roads you'll encounter on each ride. Should make it pretty easy to choose the type of ride you're interested in.

And yeah, once more numbers build up here I'll probably post a roll call thread.

I have been to Mt Equinox over 50 times in all 12 months. Had to maintain a Wireless Tower site from 1996-2002. Awesome views and a very twisty ride.

Hey Tonup, did you see when they flew a HUGE flag from the radio tower after 9/11? It was awesome, You could see it from town! My family and I happened to go up there the day they were putting it up.

I'm glad you guys like the idea! The mountain in itself isn't a day long ride, so we can plan some back roads to get there, a couple covered bridges, that sort of thing. Or go into town for lunch.

Also, Orvis is right up the street, if anyone is a fly fisherman. My mom works at the Fly Fishing museum next door. PRetty cool.

Oh one thing I forgot to mention, Skylin Drive IS a toll road... I think it's fairly cheap for bikes, like 6 bucks, but it's worth it!!

Paved. A wee bit bumpy in spots, but nothing worse than many of the other roads around There's even a hotel at the top. Awesome ride! I hope you'll come with .

ehya, yessir dahlin, you tell'em Benny, those boyz would have fun followin you out to the nauth fauty! just one question though, sport bike ride or just cruzin type of a ride. the road from the picture looks nice, but on sport bikes, if its bumpy, it would be like,......like.....well....12 long years of "Pound me in the ass Prison"

Yeah Hank, after following you on some pound me in the a** roads here in maine, I'll second the smooth road request. Either way I'm glad I'll be on a "heavy" sprint with soft suspension following Benny.

Come on Hanky PAnky, take your skirt off and ride. Honestly it's not bad at all. In a few spots its kinda lumpy, but nothing harsh like potholes, more like a couple frost heaves. Plus, the road up is what 6 miles? the mountain part of the day will not take a whole day, plenty of time for some smooth roads afterwords. Or before. Whatever. Haven't figured that part out yet

You are right but on my RC-51 which I won't be on for this trip, I found a new kind of hard.

Hank, My offer still stands....I give the RC-51 a happy home to live when your done with it or move on to a new Twin!
