does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can turn a 7/8" handlebar down to 22 mm to fit a BMW?
I need to turn down both control portions to fit BMW components

What are you trying to do put BMW controls on a JAP bar for something. If so what bend bar are you trying to use. You need to loose .014 to get to 22mm if your good with a high speed belt sander it would be your best bet cause unless your using straight your not going to lathe it off.

I've been using the R90S bend for years but want a bit more width. I have a few pair of "superbars' that have the correct bend and width but they are7/8"
all the BMW bars that I am finding are too narrow if I want a low bar and if I want a wider bar, 28" then they are very tall
the euro sidecar bar is a good width but is very low and straight
maybe the solution is to make up a pair of aluminum bar extenders to add to the bars I already have
I can turn those on a lathe, then jam them into the bars, drill and pin them in

take your 22mm ends (hacksaw) and graft them to the 7/8" bars with a stepped goesinta (lathe) and a weld.

or turn down a mating piece to connect the 2 inside like this "+"
then weld
