Bennington Triumph Bash

Well I got home just before 3. I stopped just south of Williamstown to throw on another layer and my rain gloves. Never got more than a few drops, but it was pretty chilly! Rode to Winstead CT (80 miles from Bennington) and stopped for gas and lunch. Was a little warmer so I switched back on the gloves.

Got on Rt 8 (the highway part) there and I could feel it getting warmer! At about 12:55 I passed a sign that said "Bridgeport, 37 miles" and I thought hmmmm... I think there's a 1:30 ferry. I can make it! I literally rolled onto the boat as they were folding up the ramp! The boat was moving before my kickstand was down!!! NO kidding!!! THAT'S good timing. And the guy in the car next to me has a bonnie

Oops!! Didn't see Hedges thread before I started this one... But it would be nice to know as people get home safe!!

Left Bennington at 11;00 am pulled into my garage at 5;30 pm.
2 gas stops and 1 lunch stop.
Fantastic ride all the way.
Had an absolute great time I can't wait till next year.

Left Bennington with Tito shortly after 11am, Tito split off in Rutland to stop by his house because he was freezing, I continued north on Rt 7 to Middlebury and stopped off at Cyclewise to let the guys know Tito was on his way. While I was there I fixed a detached connection in my accessory power cable (radar detector was down all the way there as a result), and put the thermal liner in my jacket because it was getting colder and colder as I rode north. By the time I was finishing putting the liner in my jacket, Tito rode up. His bike and gear went in the trailer for the track day tomorrow, and I got back on the road. Made it home around 3:30 or so.

I still can't believe how well the Bash went. Such a blast -- really great meeting everyone!

I saw Jack this morning before I headed out and discussed last night at the brewery. He has decided that he is going to come out of retirement and be the Road Manger for the Ska-Punk band and he is going to take them on a World-Wide Tour. The virgin tour will be called either the "LOUDER" tour or the "YOU SUCK" tour! Jack said he hasn't decided but he assured me that all BTB attendees will have backstage access passes as he rolls through your town!

Rode home with Bonnevillebilly. Made it back safe anyway. (No tickets!)

Benny, thanks for your route suggestion. After leaving the cafe, I had lunch in Providence, then made it back to PA in time for dinner. The Rt. 6 idea only lasted to Hartford, I couldn't take anymore slow traffic after that. The weekend was a blast.

I made it home safe and sound bikes is out of the truck and put to bed. It was awsome and cant wait till we do it again.

Parted company with Bucky and Uncle Charlie after having lunch at Curtis BBQ, again!
The weather was beautiful until White River Junction. I make it to my friend's house in Midddlesex and had the bike in garage by 16:00 before the first rain drops started to fall, so offically I didn't get rained on today. I picked up my dog and made it back to Saint Albans by 17:00. Got back to find the real world was waiting for me and work have piled a bunch of crap in my voice mail, e-mail, and pager in just 3 days. Work sucks, but the weekend was great. Thanks to all the organizers, and participants for a really fun time. It is always fantastic to meet really cool people. Everybody, ride safe, an hope to see more next time!

Pulled into the Northern frontier at 8:30, parted with Brett in Skowhegan and ran the rest solo. Only weather I rant into was pouring rain for the last 30 miles.

Had a great ride home, via lunch with friends in Brattleboro. What a fantastic weekend. Great meeting you all, and we must keep this one going!

Had a great ride over to Curtis' BBQ with Leonics & uncle charlie. I can't be 40 miles from real BBQ and pass it on up. The air was just crisp enough to put a little extra snap into the mill, and the 3 trumpets were barkin' good up & over route 9. Each group of motorcycles parked along the way was treated to a little Brtish Iron symphony, as we felt obliged to let them know what a real bike sounds like.

Had a combo plate with some beans & slaw. Hickory smoke -- mm mm Good. We bid adieu to Dave at Putney, and headed over the Mohawk Trail westbound, then down 8. I split off at 23 West into Great Barrington, and uncle charlie followed 8 to the Merritt etc.

Great rally, great people, can't wait 'til the next one.

Glad you liked it! I dunno what it is about 6, but it wears on you... IT has so much potential! lol. Did you take 20? Nice road right?

Bonnielass and I rolled in at 10pm sharp, after departing Bennington right around 10:30am.

We headed south out of town on 7, twisted down on 2, 22, and others until we hit the Taconic Pkwy, took that just down to 23, crossed the Hudson on 23, and picked up 9W south through Saugerties, etc., then picked up 209. Took 209 all the way to Part Jervis, where we were going to jog down further on 209 but I missed the turn and we were stuck on I-84 to Milford, and then we turnled left and picked up 209 again down thru the Delaware Water Gap park, where we dawdled right behind a Park Police car all the way down to I-80. Jumped from there to 33 down to I-78 and Bethlehem. Stopped there for sustenance - by this time it was already 5pm!!! We ate, then hopped onto I-78 for a pretty fast run across to Harrisburg - Lauren was in the lead as we both laid on our tanks and used our radios to coordinate leapfrogging trucks - made the 97 miles from gas in Bethlehem to gas just south of Harrisburg in about 1:20. Top speed on the GPS in that run was 92mph (Sorry Tito - I tried!!! Turns out my speedo reads about 7mph higher than the GPS at that speed!!). Rolled out of Harrisburg on 15 around 8:15, stopped once outside Frederick to get another layer on, took I-270 from Frederick to home (and that was the worst part as the asshole cagers and the truckers were all trying to kill each other, nevermind the tiny little Bonnies!!!

We had a blast! What a fantastic event, we got almost 1100 miles in!! It was great meeting everyone... and we cannot wait until the next one!
