Bennington Triumph Bash

I'm torn on the updated Bonnevilles -- on the one hand, I like the idea of being able to get cast wheels on a Bonnie, but I'm not sure I like the style of these. They remind me too much of an '80s Honda.

And the new 1600cc cruiser leaves me cold. Granted, I'm not a big fan of cruisers, but even so it seems like the styling is really uninspired.

Yeah I know. I like the rake and stretch of my 06' Speedmaster. I like my alloy rear rim and really don't mind the front cast on my year model.
H.P. and Torque ? I'm sure the new model has it , undoubtedly each at it's given intervals between high and low throttle positions.
I'm also partial to the old style fuel tank. Trust me , nothing against Harley , to each his own. How do they say "Go your own way." That's why I bought the Speedmaster because it was different than the 'Fat Boy' look that dominates the roadways. Oh....I'll always be a cruiser fan and really am fascinated by all styles and makes but I think I'll choose to sit this one out. I like the 'Nimbleness' of my Speedmaster and the look as well. If I decide I want more..> I'll modify more.

Considering how boring the V-twin has become whether or not HD is making it or any number of other companies I'm excited to see Triumph get into this cc class but must agree with you guys as to styling. Riding with so many twins at the BTB I was impressed with how different they all looked one from another. Perhaps Triumph is trying to put this out at very competitive prices and will offer some serious custom parts though would have liked to see it come over with a bit more of that British eccentricity. Let's hope it's exhaust note overcomes it's (biiiigggg yaaaawwwwnnn) I look like everyone else styling. I will go to see it when it comes in considering all Triumphs look so much better in person.

I owned a Sportster for 5 years. I tuned it a bit and it was a nice bike
it was the gay pirates that led me to leave the "Harley Scene"
the whole haloween costume badass attutude was both obnoxious and boring
it would be nice if Harly broughthte new XR1200R to America but it would be labelled as a chick bike and probably would not sell

I do like the way the engine in the new 1600 is put in right - instead of the popular 60 - 70,000 mile life span V twin mistake, but the rest of the bike is ho hum to me.
The headlight area begs the question: "Is that how they wanted it to look?"

Not a big fan of the mag wheels on the Bonnie but....I got to see the new ones at Mid Ohio this weekend and I have to say they looked nice.
