Now I know I've said the new Triumph Thunderbird looks a little too Americanized for my taste but the more I check this bike out the more I like it. Went to Triumph's website and they have an email list to get on for any info that comes out on the bike. Checked with Gengras ( the Triumph dealership in Hartford CT) and they were told July 09 for a release date. The sales manager has seen one in person and said it looks much better when your actually looking at it. I can believe that as all the Triumphs look better in person. Their marketing department needs to ratchet things up were their bike photos are concerned. Much like the Rocket I'm sure it handles well but it certainly won't be as easy to flick into tight corners the way the Bonnies or speed bikes Triumph has. One of the big questions is how will this bike sound. I think I'll email the company and ask them to put a sound byte of the bike with some performance pipes their sure to offer.

I'm sure it will sound nice, it's got the 270 crank like some of the current bikes do, my Scram has the same crank and sounds great with more open pipes.

Yeah, with the 270 crank and some after markets it will wake up the neighborhood for sure. I'm betting this bike will sell better than they are expecting. It gives people who want a twin in this cc range something more than a v-twin to look at. Hey, v-twins are nice but they are also boring since EVERYONE has been offering them for many years. Now I don't think they'll be a lot of present Triumph owners who will run out and trade their bike for this one but for those who are looking to be different (former v-twin owners) it sure will give them another avenue to go down. The thing about Triumph is that they have been really good at picking out a niche audiance for their machines. I'm also thinking there will be a flood of aftermarket folks ready to personalize it in a big way. Yes, I would like to put one in the stable but then I want to put a Tiger ,as well as a couple other bikes, in there too. Well, it doesn't hurt to dream.

I thought about it but what the hell would I do with another motorcycle some days I wonder why I have the ones I have now. I haven't rode my piece of shit or even worried about fixing it since it broke. I might get around to it by May. I am getting tired of checking in here and not one dick drager has posted economy got you all by the balls also. I am thinking about unloading the horses and the bike it would make my life much better as far as time managment. Talk to you all soon.

Now ya know if ya sold the bike it would only be weeks not months that you'd likely be out buying a new one. Once the riding bug bites your never quite the same and we all got bit many times over.
I'm optimistic that the Thunderbird will do well but just like any new engine design I'd be hesitant to go for the first year. Better to give it some time and let the kinks shake out.

I already have tinitus in both ears do to straight pipes and several years in a shipyard but let me get my earplugs and you can fire that mutha up. To some the birds chirping and the brook running sound like music but lets toss in a angry set of pipes and let the fun begin.

Well either remind me at the bash or come on over to the island sometime in the spring! We'll go for a putt.
