Heading to Lake George tomorrow morning and returning back on Saturday. Might take the Speed Triple or load up the WEE Strom. Anybody else going?

Hi Tito,

Have you had your Harley/Gold Wing innoculation? Just asking, as this malady seems to be very contagious if a ride down Canada St. in Lake George is any indication. I've thought about running a concession stand to sell inflatable pillions, running from smalls with tramp stamps for sportbike guys, mediums for guys with standards, large for anyone on a Concours or 1300, extra large with tatoos and a dangling Marlboro for the guys on Electraglides, and jumbo jet for guys on trikes, complete with inflatable hips which protrude under the armrests on both sides. Bright green tube tops would, of course, be an option for the XL and jumbo jet sizes.

I will be riding through with one of my daughters in the evening just to count Triumphs. Last year was pretty depressing in that regard.

No Americade for me, Tito, but you should fire up your NX125 and come on the Bayley-Hazen ride on Sunday. You'll love it.

Tito, Do you have a job or do you just travel around to bike rallys? Just kidding. Hope you have a good time. Lake George is a nice place to visit and it's nicer if the temerature is above 45 degrees. Hope you have good weather and a good time.

Never been even though I keep saying I have to make it there. And no plans to go this year with the dodgy weather plans here in NJ, but I have a question for anyone who has attended Americade in the past:

Americade says it is "anti-loud pipes", but do they actually turn away anyone for loud pipes or have police enforcing noise regulations?

Just asking because if I left my Speed Triple at home and took my Speedmaster with open pipes, I would want to know what I was getting into.

Last year, on at least one afternoon, they actually had all northbound motorcycles pull off into the rest area just south of exit 19 on 87, and they checked emissions and sound output. A few years ago, a group of loud twins on their way to NH cruised in on saturday night, and I think there was a concern that this type of rider would change the flavor of the rally from its family-oriented, touring bike image. I think they decided to send a message that this was not going to turn into a Laconia. It is interesting that Americade began in LG with mostly Goldwings and only an occasional v-twin, and now v-twin Harleys and clones have turned that completely arouind. Whatever else you may think of Harley's bikes, they have marketed themselves better than any other manufacturer, and Americade is an excellent example.
I rode through LG every night last year just to look at the bikes parked on Canada street, and I am sad to say there were not many Triumphs. I only saw one other classic triple, a beautiful cream and green Thunderbird, but no vintage stuff at all. Rockets were the most plentiful, with a few Americas and Speedmasters tossed in as well. That made last weekend's Bennington rally such a visual treat, although, again, there were only two of us on classic triples of which I am aware.

They're doing that again this year. Word from other forums is that they're even ticketing parked bikes that "look" like their pipes would be loud. They're also issuing tickets for non-DOT helmets and anything else they can think of.

Guess it depends on what you consider a classic triple. Are we talking 885cc Hinckley triples, or Meriden Tridents? I saw a few older Hinckley triples.

I still want a Thunderbird Sport.

Some pipes are way too fucking loud, you all know what I mean there are sweet loud pipes and there are annoying pipes.

I will be there tomorrow with my Snell/DOT Arai helmet. LOL

Me too man, me too. Love those dual pipes on the right... There is/was a yellow and black one in town here, on craigslist. Lester told me he sold it for $2500 - guy wanted $3600 for it. I think someone told me it was a major rebuild, too.

I almost rode up there this week but had to work instead. Have fun and don't get stuck behind my dad's Goldwing. Seriously it's like a blue whale with flags and reverse.

Yeah, I've seen the yellow/black one. It's pretty rough. The guy's asking way too much money for it and misrepresenting the shape it's in.
