Last To Get Back Home?

Robin and I got in last night about 7pm. Had a great trip. We sat out the rain on Sunday at her parents house. Took a two hour nap. Drank a bunch more beer and ate some gigantic steak her Dad cooked for me. Good day. I bet most of you guys were getting pounded by rain.
We headed out Monday to 7 west and jumped on 88 and 81 to avoid the border wars in NY and PA. Once clear of that crap we took to the back roads again. Our old friend HWY 11 down through PA. We did take a really nice scenic route to avoid Scranton and Wilkes Barre. I think it was state route/hwy 29. Really nice road. We did 500 plus miles and Monday night found us in West Virginia somewhere. We found the Lazy A campground a bit before dark and set up the tent. Took showers and crashed.
Tuesday morning was a little more exciting. The Bonnie wouldn't start in the 39 degree weather. Pushed up to the paved road to attempt the bump start thing but lo and behold a friendly west virginian came walking down his driveway. A request was made for jumper cables and the Bonnie fired to life with a little transfusion from the VFR. Another road worth riding is 220 in west virginia. Absolutely perfect with plenty of twists and scenery. Robin and I stopped on the side of 220 to watch an eagle soar for about ten minutes. Incredible. A bit later we stopped at powersports store we were passing and bought a new battery for the Bonnie. We made it to the BR PKWY for Tuesday night camping. Another beautiful 500 mile day.
Wednesday dawned not so cold but with a light sprinkle of rain. No biggie road wasn't even wet. We packed and hit the road for the final day. Again beautiful scenery on the PKWY but we had to make better time so we jumped of in asheville and took 40 to 19/23. We followed 23 until it turned into 64. The old copper HWY. Runs down the Ocoee river. Another great road but only along the river. 64 took us to 411 in TN which led us through Georgia and back home to Alabama. Almost another 500 miler. We did get hit with a mighty thunderstorm on day three but we were on the way home so it didn't matter.
Beautiful trip, beautiful riding partner. I already miss you guys. Can't wait to do it again next year.
