We Are Just About Ready To Roll

Got the first service done last week on the new Honda. Just over 600 miles on the bike. Both bikes had fresh liquids inserted last week. Whouda thunk you had to take the fairing off of a Honda to change the oil.

Checked and added air to tires last night as needed. Put my balaclava, camera and flashlight in the tank bag this morning. Mini tool kit and tire pressure gauge were already there.

Clothing and extra gloves and face shields will be packed tonight along with tent and sleeping bags. The bags on the VFR are very well made and an exceptional job was done getting them tight to the bike but don't believe all the crap about a full face helmet fitting in them. At least not an extra extra large, but since the VFR has two built in helmet locks it doesn't really matter.

Dog has to be delivered to my parents tonight and then Robin and I will come home and try and sleep for a few hours. Will be pulling up kick stands at 4:30 in the morning unless we can't sleep.

We will be doing some visiting along the way. Should be up near the border by Friday night or Saturday morning. If I can borrow an in-laws computer I will post and let everyone know how the trip went. I may call Tito a couple of times just to let him know we are still on the way also.

We will try and stay safe and warm and dry. I am sure we will not sleep much tonigt but that just means an earlier start tomorrow.

Alright! I try not to even miss the ride out of the driveway but I always feel carefree when the gas stop your at is too far to turn back and you realize that there's nothing but adventure ahead. Have Fun and I'll stay posted.

Now that there is a ride. The map service cites 1,125 miles and 16 and one half hours. Actually, I thought Birmingham was further; thought is was closer to the gulf. An interesting trip indeed - and the way back will be all downhill!
Took a trip from NJ to Maine last year, about 520 miles each way. Best ride I ever took!
Safe trip to you, Alabamans!
