SPEED TRIPLE wants to play

Postby TonUp » Mon May 04, 2009 9:09 pm

Took the Speed Triple out of storage today, pulled one third gear standup wheelie and hit the REV limiter on 3rd and 4th gear, got it up to an indicated 143MPH (in fifth gear, she will do 151) in a hurry.

What a fun bike to ride. It is so damn difficult to behave on it. I really tried. LOL, getting the oil change next week and getting it ready for the bash.

Is that 143 on the back wheel?

I ride S3's often at demo days leading rides. They are so much fun it should be illegal! Had to pass on one or I'd be in jail-I can barely keep my Rocket legal and a S3, well I'd be completly out of control. Twist the wick and it's like a job at NASA!

Gotta agree

Have to +1 that one Jim...anything more than my Rocket would land me in the hoosgow for certain with minimal chance for bail being posted...I have done my best to continually divert my gaze from the S3 and not even sit on the beast...no sense tempting fate....

Thankfully for me, I find the seating position on the S3 very uncomfortable, or I'd be in big trouble!

I even find it difficult to keep my Bonneville under 70.

Last time I was in VT it was either 2004 or 2005. I had an '03 Speed Triple and I had the throttle wide open in 6th gear for what seemed like the longest straight-a-way I've ever been on. I think it was Rt 7? I couldn't get the bike to go past 125 for some reason, but it was fun trying!

Careful where you try that on 7! There's a constable in Wallingford that literally holds the world record for most tickets written in a year. One of em is me....

Bad Bike

Postby TonUp » Sun May 24, 2009 7:02 am

HOOLIGANISM

Is what happens when I ride my Speed Triple, I really try to behave, be proper, polite, sweet and charming, but the Speed Triple does not want to play nice, she barks, growls, bites, screams, she always comes out swinging!

Yes she is back and ready for the BASH! Fresh oil and filter, cleaned and lubed chain, inspection sticker and set the tire pressure 32F/ 34R. Practicing wheelies this week!

Yeah Baby! I need to start behaving like a respectable 50 year old! NOT!
