Ordered a nology coil - WTF back ordered for four fucking weeks! "Shit" I sez to myself. Call around, e-mail around, no fucking coils. I really, really want to attend the bash.
Call Hermy's in PA. He's got a functional used stock one for me. Should have it Monday. :) Good folks there at Hermey's, it seems. First time I dealt with them but have always heard good reviews.

Let us know how this works out.....On the Classics forem (I have a TBIRD), there was a large fall out with the stock coils (Gill). Your symtoms sounded hauntingly familiar. If you find this is your issue I reccomend replacing both coils with the Nology coils. I actually have been pretty lucky as the 95's came stock with a high end German made coil which Triumph switched out for the Gills in 97......cut a few bucks...but created a failure issue. Some of the Gill coils were craping out after 5K.

Hope the used coil works for ya and we'll see ya in 2 weeks.....

JCWhitney has the Nology coils. I think you need 2 single tower coils for a 270,
or 1 dual tower for a 360 degree motor. I'm no expert, yrmv. Link:

Good luck! Hope to see you at the Bash,

Yup, looked them over but did not check availability. newbonn and BritCustoms both had almost a six week wait.
Think I'll buy an extra coil and squirrel it away. This parts stuff is a bitch!

David,
I don't know if my 99 Legend takes the same coil, but I just replaced my 3 Gills with Nologys. The Gills were still fine, but I grabbed the Nologys just in case they discontinue them in a few years. If your replacement falls through, I'd be glad to send you a Gill as a loaner until your new ones arrive. You can probably look up the part numbers on the Nology website to see if our coils are indeed the same. If you need it, drop me a note at ssevy@roadrunner.com.

Thanks, Seth, but I've got to get this fucking machine sorted out. Was just checking it out, testing for spark - ain't got none. Dealer can't take it until Wednesday - a fucking week from today! Think I'll check the pickup coil - that's all I've got left except the ICU, which apparently cannot be checked, at least by the backyard mechanic.

Checked the pickup coil gap, .8mm per spec. Tha's it! Now I'll wait for the shop to check it out. If it's the ICU, all $600 worth, at least it under warranty.
Who knows? Maybe the shop will have it done by Thursday and I'll ride up. Maybe not...shit. :(

David, have you checked to see if there is voltage to the coil? How about to the ecu? I would also be checking all ground wires and fuses that pertain to the ignition system. We got to get this thing running!
