Fair enough, I came equipped; my bag is good to 4 degrees below freezing and I was on a cot :-). I'll take cold over bug swarms any day.

Personally, I thought this was a great event to start the summer riding season. I vote to keep it on the same weekend next year :-)

Laconia not so much really, at least not in the northern half of Vermont. Not sure about the Bennington area. But Americade, yes, absolutely, especially in the Adirondacks. Plus we do actually have some crossover between BTB and Americade attendance.

I probably saw 100+ touring bikes heading north sunday. Manchester is a pretty big crossroads for travel between Lake Gaorge and NH, I know they get a LOT of bikes rolling thru there in June, and I can imagine north and west are worse. So yeah, there's 'Wing traffic. The campers will just remember to bring their space blankets next year! I think if you had known it would be that cold, it would be a different story, but who knew, ya know?

I'm voting with the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" contingent. Keep it as is.

I think the biggest consideration is that the current May/ post-Memorial Day scenario acts like a nice, "feel good" kick-off to the riding season for most and the weather is really optimal for all the reasons mentioned. Two years ago this same week, I rode the entire South & East Coast for 2 weeks and almost 3000 miles and didn't get wet once. Rain is a crap shoot - and honestly, this year it only rained for one short 45 minute burst each day. This May was unseasonable cold - and the weather is still weird. By now, it should be 80 out every day, but is still in the 60's.

Hell, I wouldn't even mind moving it a week earlier. :-)

Since this was my 1st year (and I thought it was great) I would say keep it.

Camping was chilly but not horrible. And if your were cold in your tent you could have hung around the fire with Dave, Steve and myself until 4am (it was toastie there). I mean there was still beer left!!

The last great point was lack of bugs. Even just packing up Sunday we were being attacked but black flies and any later in the year I'm guessing would be misserable.

Later Gators,
Looking forward to 2010 already!

I'm ending the poll shortly because our answer is pretty definitive. The 2010 Bennington Triumph Bash will be June 4-6. Mark your calendars, everyone!

We could always do a sort of fall mini-Bash up here in Burlington. That would give us the ability to ride some different roads, and it would be a lot easier to plan for.

I think we'd keep that one super informal though -- just a word of mouth gathering, not an actual rally. Maybe do it at the same time as the British Invasion at Stowe so we can ride over on our cool British bikes and look at all the cool British cars (and a few bikes).

Mark, do you happen to know the date for that? It's a good idea, might as well pencil it into the back of my mind somewhere...
