Kick Ass Bonneville seat bolts

Postby bonnevillebilly » Wed Sep 09, 2009 10:50 am

Some of you might remember the acorn nuts I welded to the stock bolts a few years back.
They were cool but they still were a pain to remove. I wanted them a little longer.

While looking for some thing cool to extend them I come across a nice piece of stainless steel chain and then I went Hmmmmm????
So over to the welding bench I went.
I tack welded each link 2 places and rotated the end links 90 degs.

Then went to work on polishing them up real nice.

Lets take a look at them in the sun light...... oh yeah they are looking nice and shinny

Now to cut the chain to length and cut the rod & acorn nut off the stock bolts.

And weld the new shinny chain to the stock bolts.

So whatdayathink I think they look kickass.

hey billy, broke 51,000km on the 2001 scarlet/silver bonnie on our way back from NH last week. I know, I know, only 31,000 miles, and they're not all mine, but hey. It felt like a milestone (well, the 50k felt like the milestone, I took a photo, near Lebanon NH). Maybe I'll catch up next year.

New sprockets and chain, and the valves are a bit loose, but other than that, the bike's been great.

In homage to your ultra-bad baffle-challenged stock pipes, I knocked another set out of mine. See what you've done?
