Hey fellas....I'm sure I'm not the only dolt (hope not)....but last year I got a bit flustered upon arrival soooooo.....(brain fart) What do you think about getting permission from the museum , or Hotel or whatever to post a waterproof (laminated like) poster at a central location to let DOLTS and newbies know where to go check in etc. or maybe donate a voice mail for Thursday & Friday so when DOLTS (like me) and newbies arrive they will get a better sense of what's happening and where??? NOT A COMPLAINT...JUST A SUGGESTION , My bride wasn't with me so I didn't know where to go........Thanks to the lady @ the chamber or commerce! Frank Bama said, "some of the best navigators don't know where they are even after they get there" LOVE YA MAN!!!!!! Dave

That's actually a good idea. There isn't once central place we can put up information like that, since people are sort of scattered around -- in the past we've sort of assumed that people who know about the Bash would know about the Friday and Saturday meeting areas, but that's obviously not a safe assumption.

We could drop off some fliers at the Paradise Inn and Kirkside offices, South Street Cafe, etc, so if people aren't sure where to go they can find out.

I'll be up early Thurs or maybe Weds. If you want to make up a flyer, just email me the file and I'll print some up. Just tell me where to place them. I guess both hotels and the campground + maybe the gas stations.

Thanks Matt -- I'm planning on arriving Thursday as well, so we should be able to spread the word.

Would the Bennington Battle Monument be a good place to meet? I know my two buddies and I rolled in after work on Friday, and had dinner downtown (after stashing our bikes under the closed drivethrough of a nearby bank - just in time - remember that downpour?). We saw a handful of Triumphs on the street, but otherwise didn't see much activity until we got to the hostel and stopped in at the campfire. The loose nature of the event was fine for us, as we had some great riding and saw some great bikes, but it was difficult to come in as an outsider when so many of the folks had "history" which we didn't share. I'm not saying that folks weren't friendly, but I can imagine a newcomer traveling alone might feel pretty lost at first. Also, it would be nice if there were a way to connect forum names with faces. Again, many of you have connections and know faces and names well, but many of us do not. Maybe instead of tee shirts this year, we could have souvenir ID badges, which folks might wear during the group things if they so desire. I have a laminating machine, and could do up some waterproof ID badges with whatever you'd like on them. These could include forum names, real names, your bike year and model, or even pictures with names if folks wanted to send them to me. I have a collection of these from events I have attended (including the 1980 winter olympics at Lake Placid from my college years- damn am I really that old!) and they hang in my office and grab my attention to relive some great memories when I'm having a long day. Just some food for thought.

Don't say the "R" word!!! No need for a waterproof badge! Unless of course you plan on spilling your beer...

Actually, at the Friday Meet&Greet both years so far, we've been doing name tags (in true Vermont fashion -- duct tape and a Sharpie marker) with real name and forum screen name.

It seems the trick is spreading the word to everyone about where to meet up and when. The hope was that everyone would be checking the website and paying attention to the Itinerary page, where all the locations and meeting areas are made clear, but apparently that's not working for everyone.

Making sure that the hotels have fliers should help, I hope.

If they had duct tape on the Titanic, she'd still be afloat!
Unfortunately, we arrived too late for the Friday meet and greet, and will probably do so again this year. I had forgotten that I had read about the name tags last year. We enjoyed the Saturday morning gathering in the parking lot, so maybe we'll meet a few more new faces this year at that.
Many thanks to Mark and all for the time and effort they expend on our behalf!

Even if you get in too late for the Meet&Greet, you can always meet us at the BBQ place for dinner, or afterwards at the party at Kurt's, depending on when you arrive.

I too rolled in last year without knowing a single local but when I saw Tito walking with a sixer of Newcastle Brown I knew I was amongst the Triumph chosen....All uphill from there...Counting the days..in fact I was asked to emcee an event last night until they told me the date..June 5th...I had to immediately apologize and explain that I will be out of town..way out of town

I don't see us gaining any benefit from the rockers being the Bash police. Sounds like the beginning of a long strange trip down a steep slippery slope.

Okay, I take it back. I didn't realize you meant traffic police on the ride. That really worked out well. Hopefully you guys will be back next year to perform the same service.
I am an individual. Just like everyone else.
