Paul -

This year's bash won't be the same without you guys, and without Tito and Janet. I've got full confidence that Mark and everyone who's stepping up to fill some big shoes will do a great job, but it's sort of like going to a family reunion where you know some of your favorite cousins aren't going to make it.

Speaking of family, the people here are yours, by oil if not by blood. Use us, lean on us, count on us to make crappy jokes at bad times. Robin's got a long road, and you're riding right along, and you'll be in my thoughts and prayers as you take it. A good friend went through breast cancer and all of its treatments, and came out the other side OK (to take up motorcycles soon after!). I hope for the same and more for Robin. Let us know how you're doing, what you need, whatever. We're here for ya.

Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that all goes as well as possible. You will be greatly missed this year and hope to see you next.

Thanks again for all the well wishes.

Jim, believe it or not I can finally put a name with a face with a bike and we are not going to be there this year. I was so looking forward to greeting you with your name.

Now you guys get back to talking about the Bash it's less than three months away.

Paul, please give Robin my very best wishes for determined strength in her recovery. She's pretty much the biggest reason for my going every year, and I, along with everyone else I'm sure, need to see her back.

Thanks Marty. We would like nothing better than to see you next year, except maybe seeing you this year, but that is not going to happen.

Paul, Robin,

I am praying with you for a fast and full recovery. Really hope we get to see you guys at the 2013 bash. In the meantime we will try to pull off this year's bash in a way that you would both be proud of.

That has to be the worst thing I've heard all year. I will keep a good thought for you two.

Thank guys.

Lots of ups and downs right now. Some days are better than others. We went for about a 40 mile ride yesterday. That was really nice. Robin is still working three days a week 7 hours a day.

Chemo is helping with things like the cancer markers in Robin's blood and the visible tumor has shrunk a great deal. Not sure about the things we can't see and they were not able to do the chemo last Thursday due to low white count. Hopefully they will be able to resume the chemo this Thursday.

You guys ride safe and have a great Bash.

Paul and Robin,
Shock is what I felt when I read those words. Rage is what I feel towards this news. Robin, I know your strength. I'm so sorry to hear this and I'm losing thoughts as I try to write how I feel. You are truly one of those people that others are lucky to meet. And I know I can say that ever one of those people are telling this vast and confusing universe to focus its energy to heal you.

Just putting a bump on this thread to let you guys know you're still on our minds and I'm keeping Robin in my thoughts and prayers. Hope the chemo's been kicking the cancer's butt more than Robin's, and that you've been able to get out riding some more. And, realistically, that day-to-day life is easy going and comfortable and the fight is still on. Riding's only part of it.

Post up here or ping my normal e-mail if you need anything from up this way (jdougher@middlebury.edu).

Thanks Jim.

Everything is just kind of in limbo. We know we are not currently going backwards and there was some positive tumor shrinkage and pain reduction early on but we will not know if the progress is continuing until some more scans and images are done.

Basically there is really nothing to report. We continue as we were. Robin works three days a week then get chemo and recuperates from that three days a week.
