I will be doing another x-country trip this Summer. Day one will take me through PA. Is there a particular route which you would recommended that goes across the northern part of of the state? I plan on ending up between Erie and Cleveland for the night. Thanks for your help.

I'll be watching this with interest too, because I've been considering doing a weekend overnight trip into northern PA.

It depends on how far south you are going to travel through the state. The obvious is Route 6 which crosses the whole state & will take you right into Erie. Parts are very scenic but some of the road can be a bit boring. There is lots to see along Rte 6. Be sure to stop in Wellsboro & visit the Wellsboro diner. THere are also some nice roads just south of rte 6 near the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. Hyners Veiw in NW PA is a great area as well.

I'll look at a map later this week & try to give you a list of good roads to hit if you can incorporate them into your plans.

After an awesome breakfast at the Wellsboro Diner ride the PA Grand Canyon then go west on Route 6 and a right (south) on Route 144 ( Elk Scenic Highway) my favorite road in PA, about 2 hours of elevation changes and corners. Beware of the wildlife.
