bennington site and success

Postby modre » Mon Jan 21, 2008 7:29 am

correct me if I'm wrong (I'm new here) but Mark is the center here?

first question is since the good guys are coming here, that means numbers and expense. can the server handle that success?
how does the cost get handled?
the old phrase "be careful what you wish for...you may get it"

Mark, I make some interesting stuff...could ad revenue be helpful with the operation costs without turning into a merchandising cluster fuck?

here's the peg lowering sets I made that unexpectedly took off...20 sets out now and all happy customers.

Image

here's a small screw jack I came up with that may be the next big thing..it works with the center stand and lifts the front end up for flats, spoke chores and is stowable in a tool kit.

Image

here's a sprung passenger seat I'm working on now for mz. modre...not for sale

Image

and here's a set of forward pegs/skid plate I like a lot

Image

I don't mind pitching in with financial support as well as seat of the pants smarts if it's needed. I originally came here to find out about a spring run away from home weekend...

Hey Modre, thanks for thinking of bandwidth/etc.

For the time being we're good -- our bandwidth is being donated by Big Heavy World, which is in turn receiving it donated from SoverNet.

If this forum really begins to take off as an alternative to RatNet, then we'll transition it to its own server and set up some system for paying for the bandwidth. But for now we've only got 134 registered users, of whom at least half are banned spambots, and since this is strictly a discussion forum and has no user galleries or anything, I think we'll be fine for quite some time.

For now, just think of this as the corner of the RatNet parking lot where the cool kids hang out to smoke and smash beer bottles. :)

Delicately put...

the Bennington Rally may have legs after-all. I'm thinking seriously of running away from home...it's been ages since I let loose.

what can I do to help with that?
...donate a prize for the fund raiser?

let me know...

That's Funny! Like I've told a bunch of people, come on over here where the RAT Criminals hangout! :-)

Rick - I too was really pumped when I got here and immediately offered to pony up some money a while ago to bring this site fully online and even call it something like "Triumph Un-Moderated" making the BTB a subsection. Mark kindly responded to me at that time not much different than above - in that for now he felt we're OK. But if this thing does indeed grow he might have to call in some of those markers and I'm good for a nice donation to make this work as well. :-)

that's a BA? on the Bonne you have little to work with because of the mufflers...I don't know the BA set up...but something can always be done. I'm guessing they use the same pegs? if so the B fronts are the same mount as rears but angled...the rears are vertical...I played with it but it didn't make sense to pursue.

if it's Thrux rears sets it's a different ballgame.

you might just do an offset peg...I've seen them around...I think the offset is 1" or so...these above are 2".

Yeah it's a BA. I think the tricky part is the mount for the peg is recessed into the mounting plate, so whatever you use needs to stock out a little before it goes down. Got a better pic of your bracket NOT mounted on the bike so I can see how it attaches? (since I'm not familiar with the Bonnie pegs...)

m8 holes are on 2" centers
frame index holes are 3/16 with pins 1/4" long to lock on 1" centers.
peg end index holes are a touch bigger for Triumph boogers

this shape is specific to the bonne, the L side is more acute to hug the brake pivot

sounds like you need a spacer with an offset peg...it's going to depend on where your pipes are. Bonne R pegs can only potentially be dropped an inch or less...so it's not worth the aggravation... I don't know the BA.

I think I have room for a 2" drop, and I would think a washer or two would leave enough room for the drop. Guess I'll have to wait and see at the bash :D

This pic is kinda dark, but you can see there's room above the pipes. They are pretty low.
