Actually, there are ski areas on both sides of the Notch. On the Stowe side you have Stowe Mountain Resort and Spruce Peak; as you go thru the Notch you have Smuggs on the other side.

For those of you who do that ride watch for gravel in the curves. The road will not have been open that long by the time of the Bash, and it's sanded fairly aggressively at times.

It would be a good idea if someone would pre-ride and report back. Hmmm, since I live here maybe that should be me.

Note to self: pre-ride the Notch.

That's a nice ride. You can also go up to through Ticonderoga to Westport and head west to Lake Placid and Tupper Lake. Then taking Rtes. 30 & 28 back down to Lake George and east into Bennington. I've done that ride and there are some good spots there. Also nice to stop in Lake Placid or Tupper Lake. Approx. 330 mi.

Yeah Matt, that's the one for you. I'd go with you, but I've ridden it before and I'd hate to embarrass all you sport bike riders by leaving you in my dust :D
