No Problems here!

Postby Hedge » Fri Dec 14, 2007 2:16 pm

I have no problems with anything you say here. We have two rules in our office and two rules only:
1. No hate language against anyone, nay religion, any color, and creed; Faggots are Open Game!
2. Any foul language is fine on the trading floor except the C word because we do have woman who work here. In other words its ok to publicly say Motherfucker and Cocksucker but we do not use the C word!

As a matter of fact as part of an interview we usually ask a person up front how they feel about hearing the word Motherfucker & Cocksucker during working hours! :-)

For the record, they're not open game here. Condemning hate language against everyone but one particular group is hypocritical, and it's also thoroughly against the policies of the organization that provides us bandwidth and server space.

I'm in total agreement. I was just expressing what the rules are on our Trading Floor; I wasn't expressing my own ideals - pro or con. My wife and I both have many Gay friends and we all get along just fine.

Cool, I wasn't accusing you or anything. :)

For the record, if anyone's wondering whom we should thank for server space and bandwidth (and they may also become a partial sponsor of the Bennington Triumph Bash -- they've got no money but can help publicize it and maybe set up a concert if it seems worthwhile):

+1 on the beer. As long as it's good beer. Preferably German. But Guinness will do very nicely too.

Of course, I also would not say no to a well-made martini.

I have to say that foul language in the work place is not my game. Amongst friends it is a different story. hence to say that If I'm not speaking like a "sailor" I'm not comfortable with the group or person.

On a beer note.. I prefer a good dark heavy, need to chew beer like guiness. When I got married that was the only request my new father-in-law requested that I have at the reception. He came and saw me while I was getting ready, In his hand was a cold guiness, His words of choice for me was "here this will help". Never heard truer "spelled right?" words since. After many years of talking to him I found out that He used to be a Norton/harley dealer in Denver, where he currently lives. On a historical foot note he closed the harley dealer before Norton went under. Good beer, Brit bikes, makes life difficult and wonderful!! look forward to casting afly and hoisting a pint!

My job deals with very different types of people and mostly women so I watch my vocab so that I dont offend someone. I try to promote my company not shot it in the foot. But when the curseing starts I can absorb and return with even the best of the sailors I ever meet. Cant wait to meet yeah and buy ya a beer but it will have to be a amber bock or pilsner .

while with freinds anybody will say any beer is best when it is cold and drank among friends. I think we all shall spend a good deal of time raising our glasses when the time comes for us to get together.

Actually, yeah, I am not a Magic Hat fan. At all. If my choice is Magic Hat or water, I'll take the water.

As for foul language in the workplace, well, my boss (a woman who's the same age as me) and I share a favorite expression: "Oh for fuck's sake!"
