Six is about my limit mostly due to the safety factor. I've ridden extensively in that area of VT and agree there is lots to see. Every June a bunch of us go up to David Seigle's shop in Rochester for his BMW "swap meet." Generally a real good time. Also spent a lot of time in Burlington when my son was at UVM. Good stuff.

I just wanted to show you folks some of what our area has to offer while making it enjoyable and pleasant for both the rider and passengers.

I was there at EMERSON MOTOR WORKS in Rochester, VT last June too. On my Speed Triple. David Seagal is a very good man and a great rider. He belongs to my local BMW club.

So, do you know Mike McGlamery from Hartford (rides a BMW GS) or Rodney from NYC? I missed last year but have been there on my Sprint RS and various Ducs.

The fumes are pretty bad in the back of a pack of 50 bikes. I would rather go out with a small group.

FUCK a long Ride!

Postby TonUp » Tue Mar 04, 2008 8:47 pm

Maybe we can ride around Bennington! Or Southern VT! I do get a little carried away with my rides. You have to realize I ride with BMW and Suzuki folks and they like to ride and ride and ride. 600-800 mile days are no big deal, 1,500-2,000 lime weekends are no big deal.

You folks want shorter rides, we will give you shorter rides. Wished we were closer to the GAP roads from Bennington.

I will try to keep the rides around 100 miles or less! I will even make a downtown ride!! LOL

!!!

That's exactly how I feel. This is basically like a homecoming for me, a chance to show off my homeland, ya know? I think the option for a long day is fine man! PEople will dig it, just not everyone. My ride is going to be much shorter, more for a couple cool destinations with some great roads in between. I'm thinking Wilson House in the AM, Mt Equinox in the afternoon, then people who want to hike to the rock can, and others can keep riding, ya know?

I think Tito the thing is with a HUGE gathering like this, lots of folks are more excited about meeting people than they are about putting on miles, ya know?
02 BA, lots of goodies...

Rides

Postby TonUp » Wed Mar 05, 2008 8:27 am

I understand what you are saying! But I am used to attending gatherings as large as 9,000 bikes for a BMW Rally and we always want to ride as much as we can, we ride together in small groups, then we come back have dinner and sit around the fire and have a few beers. And we do spent a lot of time kicking tires.

Thats why I also was thinking about getting there on Thursday night so that I can meet even more folks, but we will have to see what work is like that week. I might get stuck here until Friday.

MT Equinox is a great ride!

I agree with you Benny. Also, are you taling about the Wilson House in East Dorset? I have stayed there and East Dorset is another typical example of a beautiful New England back country town. :-)

Tito, I think you should go ahead and do the Gap Ride as planned. I'm sure there will be people who want to do it. And we'll be offering plenty of other rides, both guided and unguided, for people to choose from if they want something shorter/slower.

Speaking of which -- Benny, could you email me the route for your ride? I'm working on putting together downloadable PDFs of these various rides to post on the site. You know southern VT better than I do, so could you also advise me on a covered bridges ride?

Thanks.
