my son droped his 675 yesterday, cold tires + white line= hell of a dent in his ego
does anyone know where I can get some parts, cheap?
need: left side foot rest bracket
left side mirror
seat fairing
left front signal

aside from a dented ego, he is fine
he spun the rear tire on the white line and when it hooked up he highsided
he stepped off the bike and down it went
but boy is he pissed!
that's why I start each season on my BMW; not enough poop to spin the tire

Ouch! Glad he's okay! Those damn painted lines are slippery even in warm, dry weather.

I'd replace the turn signal (and the other three as well) with a nicer aftermarket one. And then I'd check eBay for the other parts. If nothing turns up there, you can order OEM parts from bikebandit.com. They won't be cheap (official Triumph replacement parts), but if he can do the work himself, at least he won't need to pay for labor.

I'm glad your son's ok! How are YOU doing? LOL.
My daughter is 15 and 1/2...soon to be driving and wants her own bike as well as a car. That all sounded good "in theory". Now the idea of her driving or riding on the roads just freaks me RIGHT out.

Paula, time to drill into her head the your #1 priority when driving anything is driving. Saw two girls in Daddy's Infinity almost side swipe me yesterday trying to merge. Gave them the evil eye at the next light and they looked at me like I'm the asshole for honking. Passenger was busy fixing her hair and the driver had a phone in her hand...

Doc - all I can say is I'm glad he is OK. Ego's can be repaired, bones take time. Those fucking lines are slippery all year round in my opinion and I try my best to always stay away from them.

Do I feel for him. Same thing two years ago. Cold tires, cold pavement. My Sprint went up and I went flying. Fractured elbow and some major wrist damage. It sounds as if he made out a lot better physically but his ego is still upset. I know about that too. Mine happened right in front of my favorite restaurant and all the employees came running out to check on me as I was kicking my bike with anger and embarassment. I'm still trying to live that one down.

Tell him, this too will pass. (Good lesson learned in an unfortunate way.)

he was riding with his buddies
one on an Aprilia 1000 and one on a Kawasaki 1000
they came to pick him up so their tires were warm. when they hit the main road they took off and he went after them...at least for a few yards
he was 'prepared" with boots armored jacket gloves and helmet...the result of years of lectures and advice
but youth and enthusiasm will always triumph over good sense

Smart kid! Lots of people are probably suited up, but once it warms up they'll shed the jackets, etc. I bet he'll stay covered!

Sorry to hear about it. Glad that hes ok. This elusive spring makes for cold tires and slick roads. Are you two heading up to VT with us on that friday. Pending the parts for the bike arrive? Give me a shout if you guys want to hang out. We are having a welcome to spring ride either Saturday or Sunday first weekend in April.

Glad he's OK. I work at a local Suzuki/Yamaha dealership and am constantly amazed at the sheer ignorance of new riders around here. Can't tell you how many of them get their new first bike (usually a Gixxer or R1 or R6) and go throw it on the ground. You'd be amazed at how many do it going out the driveway of the dealership. (BTW, that is not a commentary on your son. It just reminded me of some of the stuff I've seen.)

The best of the bunch had to be the kid who took his R6 down Jackson St.in Willimantic, CT at a high rate of speed. He and his girlfriend, no helmets, no gloves, boots or jackets...Decided to "make it" through the light at the Frog Bridge so he cranked it up. Hit the dip before the bridge, went into a semi-tank slapper, lost it and went into oncoming traffic. Proceeded to hit the side of a small SUV and then he, the girlfriend and the bike slid half way up the bridge. They life starred him out to Hartford. Two months later he and one of his buddies got good and drunk and jumped into his buddy's WRX. Cop tried to pull them over, so they ran. Then rammed the back of a car trying to make a left into a street, carommed off that and hit another car head on. He was life starred out again. Recovered I believe. Go figure.
