All kidding aside, I'll be heading out for a long ride after Bennington.

That's my dilemma. Bennington is about two hours from home (three and a half if my wife drives). Hardly sounds like fun to just turn around and come home on Sunday. I'm looking for a way to stretch it out a bit. Looking at the map, Rt 6 thru northern PA sounds good, then hook up into NY to catch the Finger Lakes, then back thru the Adirondacks or up to the St Lawrence and follow the river east.

Let me know if you have any good ideas. I'd like to ride with one or two others...and will probably want some peace and quiet after dealing with the RATs over the weekend. Friggin animals! ;)

Pete!

Route 6 is awesome, there is a really cool diner (Wellsboro Diner) in Wellsboro PA, went there twice last year. The Finger Lakes are great, I will be there in Sept. I go every year . Lot of nice roads in Western PA north of Pittsburgh too.

I am not bringing my knives or weapons of mass destruction either. I am just bringing my Triumph and a big FUCKING smile! :-)

See you all soon!

Robin - you have nothing to worry about with me. I was the first one a few weeks ago who told everyone not to be bringing any firearms with them, mainly because you have to cross through NY and MA which has some of the harshest laws if you get caught. To me it is just not worth it just to go plinking with the boys in the woods. There is enough other cool stuff to do where we can shelf that hobby for one weekend.

As for me and UncleCharlie, we have already decided we are not going on some long 200+ ride on Saturday. I'm almost positive that we will be taking the Mt Equinox Ride, which I think Benny is going to lead. Then we have our hearts set on that BBQ joint for lunch, followed by Ben & Jerry's if it is all close enough. We will finish the day with a trip to Hemming and a stroll on foot through your lovely town.

For us the whole enjoyment will be meeting everyone and all the jaw-boning and lip flapping that goes along with these kind of get togethers. The ride up to Bennington, the ride to Mt Equinox, and the ride back down to CT will be plenty for me!

BTW - I showed that video clip to my wife about 20 minutes ago and asked her what she thought of it. She said the guy was a jerk and it was inappropriate material for the workplace. Other than that she said it is like a two sided sword - she said it is stupid college funny if you don't know the victim and it is horrible if it happened to her or anyone she knows. I said I thought it was kind of a grey area on the sexual assault accusation and she said definitely not because the victim is getting touched and having her clothes ripped off or pulled off or pulled out of place and being exposed, so therefore it is a sexual assault - so Paula is right. Other than that she was indifferent about the whole thing and went out to the balcony to smoke a cigarette! I guess she is a little hardened after living with me for 10 years and married for another 7!

I guess I made BTB history by having the first thread actually moderated and locked down; not the kind of statistic I was looking for. I guess in hindsight it wasn't a great idea to post that. That's what I get for chatting on the IM with my 21 year old UCONN relative! :o

Pete,
I'm going to spend a few days after the BTB riding through NH, down eastern ME, into RI then back RT 6. The only slab I'm planning is to avoid Boston and Providence. If you are interested, we can talk to me at BTB.

The only time I've driven through Providence was with the mini-van on 295 during rush hour. It was bumper to bumper with the kids fighting nonstop. If anybody has a way through or around Providence I would appreciate. So far I was looking at RI 102 to RT 6.

i talked to one of the peeps at hemmings motor news and they are going to open the museum early sat am 8 instead of 9 so we can have exclusive access before the rides. we will meet in the hemmings parking lot sat am at 8 for museum then 9 for the rides instead of the one on depot st.
i was unable to get the fee for entrance waived though :(
mark is changing the itinerary.
i still have one more short scenic touristy covered bridge, monument battlefield ride to get to mark. there is a bbq place on ny7 right at the border called carmody's west. i haven't had any bbq there as i rarely partake in the flesh eating :)
hedge, is mrs hedge coming?

I'm hoping she is, but I suspect that at the last moment she will back out and tell me to have a nice weekend. She is in the planning stages of a huge IT move for the commodities company she works for and since she is the IT Manager for North & South America she has a huge responsibility ahead of her. Her move is June 20th to the new building and all vacation days for all employees have been suspended from now up to that point and 2 weeks afterward. She feels if she takes off that Friday it might set a bad example for all her employees. I'm going to suggest that she go into work early on that Friday morning and we pick her up at work in Wilton / RT 7 on our way up to Bennington. Beyond that I'm powerless over her decision.

if you do the putney bbq then ben & jerry's factory, you'll be looking at about 400 miles round trip from bennington.

The that is definitely out of the question! I think we will do the Mt Equinox trip and then get local. I can always buy some Cherry Garcia at the local store! :D

I'll have to prowel around the forum to dig up the BBQ place that Tito was talking about and see how long of a trip that is.

I'm hoping that when you say it is in the ride that it is in the Mt Equinox ride.
