Smugglers' Notch (VT108) is open!

Rode the Notch from Jeffersonville to Stowe, going at a reasonable pace to check out conditions. There is NO sand or gravel except at the entrances to the ski resorts on the Smuggs side, and those are on straight sections so easy to avoid. The pavement is in great shape except for a few linear cracks and potholes near the summit on the Stowe side. The biggest hazard right now is the locals getting used to the drive again after the long winter; they think they remember the road but end up taking some curves very wide. So keep your eyes open, watch for the cagers, and have fun!

Oh, and Stowe PD has been cruising back and forth on their side. I think it's just them checking out the road because I came around a curve at 63 in a 40 zone and they didn't even look at me. That will soon change, so be warned.
