More Snow

Got around 10" or so here in Burlington. I dug my car out and then drove around town for a bit -- my car is so much fun in these conditions. Donuts in empty parking lots = many laughs. I also got a really good laugh out of watching some idiot with all-season tires trying to drive up a hill. One word: Hakkapeliittas!

Now it's sleeting. Really need to go do laundry, but I don't feel like gathering it all up and schlepping it through the crap that's falling outside. I'd rather just sit at home, watch a movie or three, and have a few drinks.

What kinda car Mark? My Charger is interesting in the snow Got snow thursday, mostly slush last night into today. Was discussing tires with the wife today. We really don't get a LOT of snow here, and the roads are generally clear by the next day, so it seems like a waste to get dedicated snow tires. Might get her new tires tho which will make a big difference. Mostly she needs practice!!

Got a couple more inches this afternoon. My Subaru Outback all wheel drive wagon has Studded Hakkapelittas and it really likes the powder.

I really hated putting my last bike away yesterday for the season. BRRRRRRR 8F.

My mom used to have one of the first Chevy Lumina vans. You know, the dustbuster. Put snows on that thing, and it was unstopable. Not sure why... Only time it got stuck was if it was super heavy wet snow up in the bumper. Many times I had powder come up the windshield as I was pushing it with the bumper!

Benny, my car is a Scion tC. Front-wheel drive, but in the snow you can swing the rear end out very predictably. Fun car.

We got another 6 or 7 inches last night. When I stepped outside this morning, I was dismayed by what I found: the fucking snowplow had left such a big wall of snow at the end of my driveway that I might just as well not have shoveled at all yesterday. And worse, the sidewalk plow came through as well and reinforced the street plow's wall, and also added a smaller one on the other side of my driveway, right behind my car. So I had to shovel out one big wall and one smaller one. Pain in the ass.

Yeah RWD is fun and all, but honestly I had tons of fun with my Jetta and the e-brake

Edit: I had a Jeep Liberty as a work car for a while. I'm not one of those "need 4WD for snow" guys obviously, but I used to LOOK for snowbanks like that to blast thru in that thing.

Hey its going to be 52 sat and 59 sunday I cant help it I have to ride its in my blood. I might even go over to dads and ride his new rocket III since I talked him out of a HD. New seat is back ordered so I will have to just deal with the brick for another couple of days.

no snow today, 1/2/08, but its only 21 degrees and its getting colder
all the bikes are down for a long winter's nap
I have a 64 Ducati single in the shop for the first winter project; shoudl have the engine together in another week or so

I put in heat in the garage this year. That's wherr the Triumphs live. I've already completed all the normal maitenance work on the Triumphs, oil etc but can stll enjoy a cigar and a sctoch with them in the evening

my youngest son started rifding thisi year (2007 675) and he is having a hard time getting through the winter months without riidng. He rode his bike ot school (UCONN) into November but had to admit defeat when he almost crashed on ice in our driveway one morning

I will patiently sit here and wait until April to ride again, the SPEED TRIPLE will be out in MAY as always. Be careful riding on salty and sandy roads.
