Actually Paul, it was when I met you walking Sydney Sunday morning and you told me Mistermellow was going to make me stop and see the Big Ball of String. I couldn't do it.
Seriously Paul, you are a dad of a daughter so you'll understand after Robin explains an issue. Something very personal came up with my daughter and a recent conversation with her that Saturday night compelled me to travel to her as quickly as I could. Nothing is more important to me in this world than her so being the typical neurotic that I am, I left immediately for L.A. Guy would have hated my style and I wouldn't be able to tolerate not speeding to L.A. I rarely even stopped for lunch. Gas up and go. Each day I was beat, but I had a purpose.
As I commented in another post, Mother Nature saw to it that I was punished for my poor behavior to Guy. I hit every storm that the weather channel reported going across Indiana and Illinois. Then in Colorado after talking to hidesert on my way south of Peublo, I hit a hail storm that within 15 minutes piled up 8" on the road and I crashed. Long story for another post. Then the desert ate up tons of oil in my bike and had me pretty nervous out in the middle of nowhere. So nervous, I'm planning to cross on the way back east much higher north. I'll cross on Rt. 80 from Sacramento instead of heading out Rt 15 to Las Vegas. I'm hoping the Reno desert is less an ordeal. I'll find out. If any know info about that area, let me know.
From a note from Mare, Guy spent four days there and both had a wonderful time. So for what it's worth, things worked out best for him without me. I would have been too upset to spend that much time there and it would have spoiled his visit.
Still no excuse for not contacting him. I tried but had the wrong number and by then I had my mind made up and was on my way. Sorry guys, I am who I am and I guess I'm best left alone. I did enjoy meeting you all and from the pictures everyone seemed to have had a great time. And I see plans for next year are in the works.
I hope Guy has a wonderful journey back home and I'm hoping I have a safe, uneventful return journey too.
For those who think I'm a jerk, you can kick me in the ass at next year's Bash and I'll understand and take it like a man. Ride safe.
