My dad's planning to come up to do a little riding that weekend -- he's finally getting back into it after 40 years -- but he's not going to be up to riding all the way to Maine. So if he visits as planned, I won't be able to make it (but at least I have a good excuse).

But if those plans fall through, I will definitely try to make it up on Saturday, even if I have to pitch a tent in the freaking parking lot to sleep in.

Mark you would not have to sleep in a tent. There are several guests who get the large suites so you could easily have a room. And If all else fails, you could crash in my room.

Hope you can make it up. I don't want to jinx your viisit with your dad,... but....if thats what it takes to get you over here maybe he would like to come over, its not that bad of a ride.

and please spread it to the CV RAT pack. Its a heck of alot closer than mid ohio.

Hmm interesting. About 200 miles from Worcester. Doable for a day ride or maybe an over night. Although the NH rally from the BA site is the weekend after and I'm going to that. Wondering how many I can do before the wife starts to get po'd.

Thanks Hank. I'm pretty sure my dad won't be willing to ride to Maine -- this will be his first time back on a bike since the '60s, not including the MSF course he took a year or two ago to brush up. So he'll be taking it really easy.

But if the plans change...

Mark,
definitely have a spot for you if you need it. Just let me know. Try to get some of your CV Rat Pack members to come over. They would have a great time.

I would be nice to go just to see Hank ride his Speed Triple and watch him eat a SALAD! LOL :-) I really want to go to Mid Ohio, Triumph bikes, Kevin Charmicael, MEME next year maybe.

They will be having a mini motard races on demonstration at the MeMe event this year! And they will be racing them in the lower parking lot at Sunday River. Another new and cool thing to see at the MeMe event. Racing mini motard....

welll triumph really did not help any rats up here in the north east so I really do not want to condone their behavior towards its once loyal members. Thats really what btb was all about. Rat national does not help us out any more so we had to do it our selves. by going to mid ohio, thats like saying " ok triumph and rat, you can treat us that way, and we will still support your actions/events" Almost like animal house, waaaaaaaaack, with the paddle, thank you, may I have another". I really am a little upset with RAT national right now and this will be my protest. I am not going really support rat until they recognize the north east and new england members again. So,...thats why I supported the btb and MeMe. Its grass roots and its not the national rat thing.

any and all are invited to ride some great roads up here in maine and enjoy a great motorcycle vacation.

Hank, I agree with you. But for what it's worth, it's not just northeasterners that Triumph corporate is ignoring, it's all North Americans. RAT is fading away. There are no more RAT Raids at all, no Triumph events of any kind aside from Mid-Ohio, and the only reason Triumph is doing anything there is because they're the featured marque. Aside from that, they just try to pawn off dealer demo days as "events."

I've heard that Triumph may eliminate RAT altogether in favor of a new privately-run owners group similar to BMWMOA. But I don't know if there's any truth to that rumor.

Events

Postby TonUp » Fri Jun 13, 2008 11:25 am

BMWMOA and BMWRA are great, I belong to the latter one and we have over 50 Rallies every year sponsored by the local shops, except for VT who gets its sponsorship from MAX BMW in NY and NH.

The main reason I wanted to go to MID OHIO was to see Kevin Charmicael (Triumph Factory Stunt Man) in person ans have him autograph my gas tank on my Speed Triple. Aside from that it is going to take other small groups like BASH, RAT packs, MEME to get more and more rallies and events organized. It is up to us to make it happen, not the corporations!!!
