So you guys have to decide, decide amongst yourselves who will be coming up from Conn, NY, and VT to represent the Triumph group from the south east part of the country. Of course your all invited and we would love the have the gang from the deep south up to MeMe. Its July 23,24,25,26 at the Jordan Hotel, at Sunday River Ski Resort, in Bethel, Maine. Ask for the time off now so as to get permission from whomever.

Thats the only way I am coming over to the btb VT this year.

This isn't a competition, Hank. Come to the BTB if you want to and can make it, don't come if you don't want to. By the same token, people will attend MEME if they want and are able to (I've wanted to attend the MEME event for years, but the timing always sucks because mid-summer is always insanely busy for me).

The BTB and MEME events do not compete with each other, they complement each other. Trying to start a pissing match about attendance is counterproductive to both events.

MEME

Postby TonUp » Mon Dec 01, 2008 4:59 pm

Hank!

I have been trying to attend the MEME event for years and like Mark said something else always comes up. As you already know I belong to 3 BMW clubs, 1 Triumph pack and I am also extremely tied up with the local Suzuki shop as a tour director, tour guide and Track Day coach.

I ride as much as possible all over the country and try to make as many events as I can, I hope I can make the MEME event this year but if I can't there is always next year.

Hope you can make it to the BTB! My goal is to make it even better for all attendees and hopefully larger next year.

Cheers!

Tito

sorry I read it back to myself again. Not trying to make it a "pissing match".

for me and me only. If we dont support each other's events...then it simple we don't support each others events. And by support I mean attendance. If we have limited time off, and limited time to ride during the summer, then each of these becomes very important to us. All that I am say is ..."If some mainers come all the way down to attend the btb, I am only hoping some of the VT's, like Chedder Jack for example, would in turn come up and attend the MeMe event. Not demanding. Not a pissing match...its more like an opportunity. We had 4 or 5 mainers come down last year. Thats great! I am just looking for 4 or 5 cv rat packers to at least try to make it up to meme. Its not a demand nor a pissing match. Its an opportunity to see what our 10 year old event has to offer and what a motorcycle vacation up in Maine might look like. Thats it. Dont knock it till you've tried it. It might just surprise you.

Ask Mike, Bret, and Chedder Jack they all have credible testimonials.

I can certainly attest to the MEME event being a blast and well worth attending, especially now that it has been extended. Lots of great rides, great variety of bikes and awesome folks.

I can also attest that Hank is not the type to start a pissing match, he just likes to stir people up, isn't that right Hankster?

After riding with Hank for a couple of years now I feel he has motivated more people to love the riding of triumphs and the love of the marque. Hank has moved some away from the brand but that really isn't a bad thing. They weren't worthy of events like this. Hank is trying to make a great event that has grown out of control even better. Mike has spent years making this thing into a great weekend that will draw people from across the states. BTB is a pure Triumph event that shuns no one, MEME is a Euro bike event the has inspired many to think differently about what we do for a past time. There is a level of attention and joy each of the MEME memebers get when they see new people coming up. Hank would be beside himself if the BTB memebers ever came up in force. He also understands that not all of us have unlimited vacation and time from the family to do both. I feel lucky to be able to attend both events.

Hank you better not miss the BTB this year, I will drag you down there even If I have to drive the truck that matches my bike with you hogtied in the back of it.

Cheddar Jack is a very good VTer that came up on his 675se this past July.

In other words yes it is fun to wind Hank up and watch him spin, but the passion he has for riding is second to none.

I hope Hank comes in for the BTB. I would really like to meet him. Many miles and time stand in my way. I would like to see more info though on this MeMe event ! Speed.
Post it up on a Heading or is it already , somewhere.
EDIT : FOUND IT !

Don't hold your breath. I couldn't even get 4 or 5 CV RAT members to show up to the BTB, not counting Tito, Robin, and me (actually, come to think of it, it might have been less than five even including the three of us!). I'm lucky if I can get three people to turn up for scheduled rides. We have a lot of people on our email list, but very few of them are active in any of our events -- seems like most everyone is always too busy. If this frustrates you, imagine how it frustrates me.

And by the way, who is Cheddar Jack?
